After School Programs, Inc. (ASP) was founded in 1991 and is the largest provider of quality on-site after school programs in Broward County. As Broward County's only child care provider to be accredited by both SACS and CITA, ASP currently operates on-site after school programs serving over 6,000 children throughout the county. ASP employs over 600 qualified and trained child care professionals.
Many of our programs have been awarded the Gold Seal of Excellence from Broward County Child Care. At After School Programs, Inc, our quality management, experience, award winning programs, numerous resources and community involvement have helped us earn the reputation as the premier provider of after school care.
At After School Programs, Inc, safety is our first and foremost priority. Being fully aware of the importance and responsibility associated with childcare, we absolutely stress the proper training of our professional staff and observe the strictest rules for safety and supervision.
To meet the requirements of working at ASP all employees who are hired to work with children, including counselors, site directors, District and Area Coordinators and the Executive Management Team, must be fingerprinted and cleared by three entities. They must be fingerprinted and cleared by:
Local Police Departments
Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE)
The FBI
All ASP employees who are hired to work with children will be monitored through site visits by the Florida Child Care Licensing and Enforcement Team, as well as Local School Board Members
The Florida Child Care Licensing and Enforcement team will make a minimum of 3 unannounced visits per year, and local School Board members will make at least one unannounced visit per year.
Each ASP staff member attends a mandatory orientation class that covers all of the important guidance and reinforcement techniques for safety and supervision as well as company guidelines appropriate for working with children.
A trained Site Director, meeting all the educational credentials required by law, is on site daily at each of our programs to coordinate and supervise all staff and activities. ASP is the only provider that requires all of its management personnel, including Site Directors, to attend an intensive 6-week management training program.
New staff members are also placed with a Staff Trainer for several days for additional training before being given the responsibility for a group of children.
This recurrent training gives ASP management the tools to keep its staff motivated and fulfilled. A cheerful and motivated staff translates into better care, higher safety levels, and happier children. ASP's philosophy dictates a low child-to-staff ratio, so that our staff members can be more responsive and nurturing to the children in their care, taking the time to speak to and care for each child individually, and helping them to be more successful in all their activities.
